Welcome to the new AJM blog

Dear readers: Welcome to the new AJM blog. We at AJM have created this communication tool in order to encourage intelligent and rational discussion among our large audience of readers. The blog is dedicated to interactions between readers concerning something that has been published in the AJM. The style is similar to that used in formal Oxford debate, that is, respectful exchange of ideas without insults or sarcasm. We screen all blog sumissions before posting and will refuse to publish any insulting or demeaning remarks. The decision as to what consitutes an insulting or demeaning remark is my own interpretation and not subject to appeal!! So, please enjoy the conversations, the exchange of ideas and comments. We are posting all of our editorials, commentaries, and research articles that received attention in the national and international media during 2008 on the blog. However, anything we publish in the print journal or on the e-component website of the AJM is “fair game” for commentary on the blog. Submissions are limited to 150 words. References are also allowed but count towards the 150 word count limit. No pictures please, at least for now. We will see where the blog takes us. My personal hope is that it will expand and take on an e-life of its own! Best wishes and thanks for contributing to the blog. Joseph S. Alpert, MD, editor-in-chief, AJM.
